Marc grew up in the small rural town of Belle Glade, Florida. His family moved to Wellington a small suburb of West Palm Beach, Fl when he was in middle school. He played football at Forest Hill High School where he became a three-year letterman in football while starting on offense and defense. Marc also excelled at track making it to states in the triple jump although he only competed during his junior and senior year.

Marc accepted a scholarship to play for Murray State University under current Virginia Tech Coach Frank Beamer. In 1986 at Murray State Marc avg. 18 yards per reception while helping the Racers win an Ohio Valley Conference Championship his junior year. Marc’s senior year at Murray State started off very promising after catching 6 passes for 131 yards in the opening game against University of Tennessee at Martin. Unfortunately, he was injured in the 3rd quarter suffering ligament damage in his right knee which caused a major set back for the remainder of the season and his football future. After college, Marc transitioned to coaching football, basketball and track at the high school level.

He began conducting strength and conditioning sessions on his own for the teams that he coached. “ When I began coaching I knew that it was futile to wait around year after year for the most talented kids to walk through the door begging to play for me. Nevertheless, I went back to what I knew worked best, which was to be in excellent shape. I got serious about conditioning my teams and it paid off. The first thing I did was do some reflecting on how my high school coach, Tom Cherry, prepared me. It’s strange to see how people make such a big deal about plyometric training and Olympic lifts being that I was introduced to this type of training in the early eighties by Coach Cherry and my track Coach Florida Hall of Famer Lincoln Knowles. I began studying more on the latest science for training and obtaining the appropriate certifications to maximize my knowledge and the ability to develop all athletic levels and ages.  I attended Perform Better Workshops back in the early days when functional training was unheard of. My excitement to train only increased after meeting and talking to people like Mike Boyle, Mark Verstegen, Juan Carlos Santana, and Daryl Ito. At the time, I was a physical education teacher at a small private school. I was also the head coach of three sports. It was great to see first hand which girls and boys loved sports regardless of their athleticism and how I could help increase their ability. In 1998 I designed my classses around athletic training. I would teach ladder drills, kinesthetic awareness movements, bounding and all types of change of direction skills. This helped me reinforce in my own mind how to best apply these drills and gain an understanding of how easy or difficult drills were for kids from first grade to high school level. I also discovered that this might be the only time some of these kids were exposed to real training. I guess I was on the right path in recognizing the seriousness of childhood obesity and how it has effected the lack of fitness of todays kids. I was at a school that had no gym or indoor training area.  We converted a small garage space into a weightroom that could fit about eight guys at a time. Creating a better training environment came by way of building my own wooden decks as stations that were positioned under the oak trees for shade. This is where we did  our Olympic lifting and plyo drills.  Initially, kids were not sure if this was sufficient until a few weeks later I would get reports that their vertical jump had increased and that they felt quicker, stronger and faster. The body is a remarkable organism. It is so ready to improve in so many areas. Only if we take the time to condition it properly and consitently."
